Static QR Codes

The information is inside the square itself. Nothing to load, nothing that can go down, nothing you can change.

All solutions

A static code is the original kind. Whatever you are sharing gets encoded into the black and white pattern, so the pattern is the information. Scan it and the phone reads it straight off the paper.

How a static code actually works

There is no middle step. The web address, the Wi-Fi password, the phone number, all of it is written into the pattern as data.

That is why the pattern gets busier when you put more into it. A short link makes a simple code. A long one makes a dense code that is harder to scan.

1

You type your content into the builder

2

The content is encoded into the pattern

3

A phone reads the pattern and acts on it

What it is genuinely better at

Because nothing is fetched from anywhere, a static code cannot break because a server is down or a link rotted. It works the same in ten years as it does today.

It also works when the person scanning has no connection at all, which is exactly the situation a Wi-Fi code is for.

  • No dependency on us staying online
  • Works with no signal at all
  • Nothing is recorded about who scanned
  • Nothing to maintain once it is printed
  • Fine to print in huge numbers

What you give up

The trade is real and it only goes one way. Once a static code is printed, the information in it is fixed forever. If your number changes, every printed copy is wrong and the only fix is new printing.

You also learn nothing. There is no way to count scans, because nothing ever contacts a server. A poster with a static code gives you no idea whether anybody used it.

  • Cannot be edited after printing
  • No scan counts, ever
  • No landing page behind it
  • Long content makes a dense, fragile pattern

When to pick static

Use it when the information will genuinely never change, or when working offline matters more than anything else.

1

Guest Wi-Fi cards

2

A contact code that must work with no signal

3

A link you are certain will outlive the print

4

Anything where you would rather nothing was tracked

Questions people ask

No. There is nothing to expire. As long as the printed pattern is readable it keeps working.
